Making your own Balsamic Glaze could not be simpler, it consists of 2 simple ingredients, balsamic vinegar and sugar.

One combined and allowed to reduce to a lovely thick, sticky syrup , balsamic glaze adds the most fantastic sweet and tangy deliciousness to many dishes.

Once you have made your own Balsamic Glaze, you will never use shop-bought Balsamic glaze ever again.

This Balsamic Glaze recipe uses granulated sugar but you can use any brown sugar, honey or even syrup to make your Home-made Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients

  • 250ml balsamic vinegar

  • 1tbsp. sugar

Directions

  • Place both ingredients into a pot and bring the pot to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 20 – 25 minutes or until the mixture has reduced to syrupy consistency.
  • Once your balsamic vinegar and sugar have reduced, remove the pot from the heat and transfer your glaze to a container as soon as possible. (Removing the heat stops the glaze from using the residual heat in the pot to continue to reduce and thicken.)
  • You are now ready to use your new balsamic glaze on some of our fantastic recipes such as our Crispy Italian Italian BruschettaCreamy Garlic Mushrooms or our Mediterranean Caprese Salad check out our other recipes, perfect when complemented with the perfect balsamic glaze.

Notes

  • I have used granulated sugar in my recipe purely because this is normally readily available in most kitchens but you can also use any brown sugar, syrup or honey in this recipe if you prefer.
